ABSTRACT:
This guide gives information on the skills and knowledge that students should acquire in a secondary-level business education program. Section
1 introduces the competency-based curriculum and discusses curriculum
delivery systems, the role of the teacher in curriculum development, and
options for program development. Goals, competencies, and activities have
been included for a total business education program that covers accounting,
general office, data processing, and secretarial programs. The competencies
listed are based on the results of task inventory evaluations in both
Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. Section 2 contains a skills card for
evaluating competency completion by students. The third section is a resource
list of textbooks, software magazines, and other materials needed by
teachers. The appendix provides information on the task inventory results
that were used as a basis for competencies included in the curriculum
guide. (MN)
